Marcus Reed’s Glory transforms the side of Salt Market Social into a vivid study of emotion and place. A girl in a yellow raincoat stands joyfully against a red sky — her bold, geometric form capturing a moment of human exuberance. Behind her, Tynemouth Castle and the Low Light Lighthouse anchor the scene in local history, while the Northumberland flag flutters above, hinting at questions of identity and belonging. Blending striking modern design with centuries of heritage, Glory celebrates North Shields’ spirit and invites reflection on emotion, memory, and much more too.
Marcus, another local artist on the Elevation roster, is an illustrator with a long track record of working with some of the world’s biggest brands and has picked up several awards along the way. His geometric style is well-established and widely recognised, with work exhibited internationally at venues including Tate Modern, La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris, and Beijing Design Week. Whilst having a global outlook Marcus works from a studio only 2 minutes walk from where his mural is located.
