Elevating North Shields
Elevation is a community arts charity established by residents of North Shields to commemorate the town's 800th anniversary in 2025. Our mission is to create a series of high-quality public murals that capture the history and spirit of North Shields while enhancing the local feel-good factor.
Our first project was 'The Siren' which was expertly created by the renowned street Artist Prefab77. We are hugely grateful to the artist for his passion and enthusiasm to see the streetscape of North Shields transformed. His large-scale black and white artwork received a fantastic reception and laid the foundation for the larger festival with its multiple artists.
North Shields - 800 Years Young
In 2025, to mark North Shields' 800th birthday, Elevation has collaborated with a diverse array of artists from the north east and beyond to bring the town’s unique stories and spirit to life through a trail of large-scale murals. The artworks are painted on prominent buildings around the Town Centre, Fish Quay, and residential areas. They add a dynamic visual element to our town’s landscape as well as educating about its history and culture.
